Blue High Performance Network®

BlueHPN® is a convenient and affordable network with providers in nearly every state in the U.S. But there are a few very important things to know before choosing it.

How is BlueHPN different?

BlueHPN is like other networks — you’ll still pay plan copay and out-of-pocket costs. What makes it different is where you can go when you need care.

If you choose BlueHPN, you must be sure that the providers, clinics or hospitals you choose accept BlueHPN or you may be responsible for up to the total cost of that out-of-network care unless it’s an emergency visit*. This can be a lot of money, so read this page carefully before deciding if BlueHPN is right for you.

The BlueHPN network

Not all providers and facilities are in the BlueHPN network, but there are many to choose from. This network of providers has been carefully chosen to provide convenient and affordable care for you and your family. Because they’re also Blue Cross providers, you can always expect the same level of care no matter where you are.

If your current providers aren’t part of the BlueHPN network, you’ll need to find ones who are.

Cost savings

BlueHPN is an affordable network that can save you money if you stay in network:

Things to think about before choosing

Before you choose BlueHPN, think about your needs now and what they may be in the future.

  • Are you and your family members currently in good health? If so, this plan could be a good choice.
  • Do you want to keep your current primary provider? If they aren’t in network, you must choose a different one.
  • Do you expect to need lab work, imaging or surgery? If so, you’ll want to see if your current or future providers are in network.
  • Do you or family members plan to travel or attend college away from home? If so, be sure BlueHPN providers are available in those areas.
  • Do you or a family member need specialty care for things like diabetes or asthma? If so, check to see if BlueHPN providers are nearby.
  • Are you planning to start a family? If so, do you know if your providers of choice are in network?
