What is a Member Advocate?

Member Advocates are service experts who know all the ins and outs of your benefits. They’ll save you time and relieve stress by making things less complicated. They can help you:


  • Find a doctor and schedule your appointments
  • Resolve claims and benefit issues
  • Navigate your choices for care
  • Access personalized care and services to meet your specific needs
  • Connect to care for nonurgent illnesses or chronic and complex conditions
  • And much more

What is a Clinical Navigator?

When you need medical advice, your Member Advocate may refer you to a Clinical Navigator.

Clinical Navigators are like the nurse in the family we all need – they provide expert guidance on your nonurgent clinical needs. They’ll help you understand your medical needs and recommend options for care that work with your plan.

How do I get in touch with a Member Advocate?


There are two ways to reach a Member Advocate. You have the choice of an easy-to-use app or one phone number. To get in touch with a Member Advocate:



Download the BCBSM Coordinated CareSM app to connect with a Member Advocate through secure messaging.

What you’ll need to access the app:

  • Your Enrollee ID which can be found on your ID card
  • Your personalized access code: Provided by your employer


Call Member Advocate Customer Service at:

The number on the back of your member ID card from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time Monday through Friday

Coordinated Care app

The BCBSM Coordinated Care app gives you quick and convenient access to a Member Advocate. Whether you’re at home or on the go, you can use the app to:

  • Connect with a Member Advocate to resolve claims and benefits issues
  • Get expert guidance for non-urgent illness and injury from a Clinical Navigator
  • Set appointment reminders and track medications
  • View helpful articles and videos directly related to your personal needs
  • Securely message your Member Advocate and Clinical Navigator

The BCBSM mobile app

The BCBSM mobile app connects you securely to the health plan info on your bcbsm.com account from your smartphone or tablet. Like your online member account, you’ll be able to see useful plan information as well access your claims other plan information.

While the Blue Cross Coordinated Care app will help you manage your care and connect you with Member Advocates, the BCBSM mobile app will help you manage your costs and your health plan.

With the BCBSM mobile app, you’ll be able to:


  • View your deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums
  • Check your claims and explanation of benefits
  • View or share your virtual ID card
  • Find doctors in your network
