Choosing your virtual PCP
When you create your Doctor On Demand account, you’ll automatically be assigned a primary care provider. You can then choose from a large list of board-certified virtual primary care providers that better fit your personal preferences and needs.

Scheduling appointments
You’ll schedule appointments with your virtual PCP through the Doctor On Demand app. Behavioral health care visits are also scheduled appointments. Appointments are available in all time zones Monday through Friday for:

• Virtual primary care — 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Virtual behavioral health care — 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

See first available
When your regular virtual PCP is unavailable, virtual primary care offers you the flexibility to see the first available provider. When you choose this option from the Doctor On Demand app, you’ll be connected to a highly qualified PCP in less than 10 minutes. Like your provider, these PCPs have complete access to your medical records and can prescribe some medications.**

Urgent care
Virtual urgent care is available 24/7 through the app without an appointment. Or you can go directly to an urgent care center when you need in-person care. For more immediate behavioral health care, you can also use the app for a virtual urgent care visit. All Doctor on Demand primary care providers are cross-trained to recognize, score and treat mild to moderate behavioral health issues, particularly depression and anxiety.

Prescription medication
If your treatment includes a prescription, your provider will confirm your pharmacy and place the order electronically. All you need to do is select your preferred pharmacy in the Doctor On Demand app and pick up your medication when it's ready. Home delivery is also available.

Most Doctor On Demand providers can write prescriptions. However, Doctor On Demand doesn’t prescribe drugs designated as controlled substances, which includes narcotics or certain pain medications. Your virtual PCP will talk to you about options.

Lab tests and imaging
When your provider feels you need lab test, you’ll visit a Joint Venture Hospital Laboratories location for the test. Doctor On Demand will send the results to you within 10 business days. If you need imaging, like an ultrasound, the Doctor On Demand care team will help you find a BCN-participating imaging provider nearby.

You can access the Doctor On Demand app in all 50 states. If your virtual PCP isn’t licensed in the state you’re traveling to, you can see another provider without scheduling an appointment. Using See First Available in the Doctor On Demand app, you can see a virtual provider who’s licensed in that state in less than 10 minutes.

When traveling outside the U.S., you won’t be able to have a medical visit through Doctor On Demand. However, the Doctor On Demand care team’s registered nurses are available 24/7 to guide you to health care wherever you are.

Messaging the team
You may ask questions outside your virtual visits through the app’s messaging tool. A dedicated Doctor On Demand team member will respond ASAP.
